SENIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE (SCSC) INTAKE 14/25 WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED
On Monday, 21st July 2025, the Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College (RDFCSC) officially opened the one-year Senior Command and Staff Course.

This academic year, SCSC14 brings together 110 Senior Officers, including 6 others who will very soon join the course. By the opening date, the course comprised 78 students from RDF, 2 students from RNP, 3 students from RCS, and 21 allied Students, making a total of 104 students. The students of SCSC 14 come from 19 countries, namely: Botswana, Ethiopia, Guinea, Jordan, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. However, six more students are expected to join the Course from Burkina Faso, Benin, Central African Republic, Ghana, and Somalia.

On behalf of the RDF leadership and the entire College community, and in his role as Commandant, Brig Gen Andrew Nyamvumba officially welcomed allied and National student officers to RDFCSC and said “It is both my privilege and pleasure to preside over the opening of Senior Command and Staff Course 14 and to welcome you all – on behalf of the entire College community. My warmest congratulations to each of you on your nomination and your selection attests to your demonstrated potential and readiness to embrace the next level of professional development.
The course objective is to cultivate your ability to think critically, plan effectively, and lead confidently in complex multi-domain operations and the challenges ahead are significant. You will be exposed to new political, socio-economic, and security perspectives; innovative problem-solving approaches, and essential technology skills to thrive in a modern, IT-driven learning environment. I look forward to celebrating your achievements together at your graduation on 12 Jun 2026 with every one of you present. With these remarks, I officially declare the Senior Command and Staff Course intake 14 open.”

The Deputy Commandant & CI, Brig Gen JC Ngendahimana, giving the Instructional brief. “We are happy to have you with us, especially as this marks the second year since we doubled our students’ intake from the usual 48 to nearly 108. It is going to be a pleasurable endeavour we are going to take together, and we are confident that, if all of us are on board, faculty and students alike, we will perform and succeed. The Senior Command and Staff Course you are about to embark on is grounded in the College’s mission to develop officers with the highest intellectual and professional standards in command and control of the Defence Forces.” He said.

Allied students conducted a familiarization period of 3 weeks including the ICDL program, an IT course, an induction week, an introduction to the College's infrastructure and facilities, as well as a tour in same parts of the Northern and Western regions composed by Allied Students with the DS. This tour featured to the tourism areas in Kinigi (Musanze District), the Commune Rouge Genocide Memorial, the Shema Power Lake Kivu Ltd, and the Rubavu border posts (Rubavu District).
