NIGER INDEPENDENCE DAY
On 5th August 2024,
The Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College's community belatedly celebrated the 64th Independence Day of Niger on 5th August because the real Niger Independence Day, 3rd August, fell on the weekend. Indeed, Niger gained independence from France on 3rd August 1960.

As per the College tradition, the national anthem of Niger was played.

The Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor, Brig Gen Jean Chrysostome NGENDAHIMANA spoke on behalf of the Commandant and the College fraternity. He wished the people of Niger, particularly Maj Abdou IBRAHIM who is the first Nigerien student at the College, a very Happy Independence Day. The Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor lauded the friendship, partnership, and cooperation between the two sister republics of Rwanda and Niger in many aspects. He said the kind of cooperation that serves common interests, was what Africa needed to enjoy to the fullest the fruits of its independence from colonialism and neo-colonialism.
