Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College Observes NIGERIA’s 58th Independence Anniversary

In line with College tradition, Staff and students joined Nigeria, in celebrating her 58th independence anniversary on 1 October 2018. On this day, the College organized refreshments for the entire College fraternity to commemorate the event.

During the refreshment, the Nigeria national anthem was played.

Maj Yusuf Umar GABARIN allied student from Nigeria gave his remarks that “Nigeria got independence from British colonialists on 1stOctober 1960 which was exactly 58 years ago. It was officially recognised as a Republic in 1963, however the joy was short lived due to the civil war that erupted from 1967 to 1970. Nigeria as a nation was amalgamated by Lord Fredrick Lugard in 1914. It currently has a population of about 186 million people led by President Muhammadu Buhari. The first president was Late Chief Nnamdi Azikwe and the first prime minister was Late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

On behalf of the RDFCSC Commandant Maj Gen JB Kazura, The General Coordinator Col F Itangayenda congratulated Nigeria for this milestone achievement that set the stage for the nation to prosper.
