Offensive Tactical Exercise without Troops for SCSC 05 conducted in Musanze District.

From 09 to 15 December 2016, students of SCSC 05 conducted an Offensive Tactical Exercise Without Troops (TEWTs) nicknamed HASHYA UMWANZI. The Exercise started with indoor planning and discussion and concluded with an outdoor application in the general area of Kivuruga in the MUSANZE District.

EX HASHYA UMWANZI is a week-long offensive operations TEWTs designed to practice students of SCSC in the planning and conduct of Advance to Contact, and Hasty and Deliberate Attacks up to Bde Gp level. It is a package that was designed to develop students’ knowledge of offensive operations, test their ability to use the estimate as a planning tool and assess their tactical application of various offensive concepts on the actual ground.

The purpose of the offensive operations is to defeat an enemy, imposing one’s will on him by the application of focused violence throughout his depth. The EX HASHYA UMWANZI aimed to develop students ‘understanding of divisional close operations through the study of brigade offensive battles within a divisional context.

Specifically, the main objectives were to assess the ability to plan and conduct advance-to-contact, hasty, and deliberate attack operations, and also to assess the application of related procedures and drills at the tactical level.
