CELEBRATION OF ESWATINI INDEPENDENCE DAY

On September 6th 2024,

The Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College (RDFCSC) fraternity celebrated the 56th Independence Day of the Kingdom of Eswatini. The celebration was attended by students of Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) 13, faculty members, and college staff.

The Kingdom of Eswatini formerly known as Swaziland gained its Independence from the United Kingdom on September 6, 1968. Eswatini is a small landlocked country in Southern Africa with approximately a total land area of 17,364 Square Kilometers. Eswatini is bordered by South Africa and Mozambique, with a population of approximately 1.2 million people.

At the occasion, Lt Col DLAMINI Nombuso Nobuhle, the Eswatini student attending SCSC 13 at the College, said: “It is with immense pride and honor to speak before you today on this auspicious occasion of the Kingdom of Eswatini Independence Day. As the first student from the Kingdom of Eswatini to attend SCSC at this College, I am extremely happy to be part of the history. I am reminded of the profound connection that unites all Africans, our shared history, our struggles, the sacrifices, and our aspirations for a future defined by peace, progress, and prosperity.”

In his remarks, the Commandant of RDFCSC, Brig Gen Andrew NYAMVUMBA Said: “Today, we gather to celebrate a momentous occasion, the National Day of Eswatini, marking its independence on 6 September 1968. This day is not only significant for the people of Eswatini but also for all of Africa, as it symbolizes the resilience and determination of nations across our continent to break free from colonial rule. I wish a happy independence to the people of Eswatini, especially to Lt Col DLAMINI Nombuso Nobuhle as we celebrate this significant milestone. Today, we are particularly honored to have a student officer from Eswatini among us. As we honour this National Day, I would like to emphasize that the current complex and volatile security environment necessitates development of strategies and collaborative efforts aimed at fostering a future that upholds our common values for enhancing peace and stability with our regions.” He concluded his note by wishing a happy Independence Day to Lt Col DLAMINI Nambuso Nobuhle.
