JUNIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE (JCSC) INTAKE 23/24 WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED

On Tuesday 28 May 2024, the JCSC intake 23 was officially opened by the RDF Command and Staff College Commandant, Brig Gen A. NYAMVUMBA who welcomed and congratulated students for being nominated to attend the course and urged them to use the opportunity to aim high to uphold personal pride and the institutional trust in them. The Junior Command and Staff Course 23 is composed of 76 student officers, drawn from RDF (72), RNP (2), and RCS (2). The course is scheduled to run for 21 weeks from 28 May 2024 to 11 October 2024.
While the JCSC seems short, it prepares the students to become more competent Commanders within and at the Bn level and as a Grade 3 Staff Officer at the Bn and Bde levels.

In his opening remarks, the Commandant said” I am sure, what you will learn here will help you to contribute and earn the RDF and our country in general an international recognition whenever you go for missions or for training here, in the region and beyond. However, for all I have said to materialize, you will need to uphold the highest professional standards of discipline and commitment. The college will in particular, expect and demand from you the highest standards of academic performance and professional conduct to prove the worth of your selection to attend this course. You are required therefore to play by the rules, abide by the college regulations, behave uprightly, work hard and perform well. Inescapable to the discipline imperative, is your physical fitness. The College programme allocates time for physical exercises to ensure fitness is maintained.

The official course opening was preceded by a two-week training program in International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) from 13th to 20th May 2024. As RDFCSC is becoming a smart college, this program is necessary to expose students to a variety of computer skills and software applications to be utilized during their course.
