OPENING CEREMONY OF JUNIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE 05/14

On 09 September 2014, the Commandant RDF Command and Staff College, Brig Gen Charles KARAMBA officially opened the Junior Command and Staff Course 05/14. The ceremony was attended by members of the Directing Staff and the students. The Junior Command and Staff Course 05/14 comprises 36 student officers mostly in the ranks of junior majors and senior captains. The course runs for 24 weeks from 09 September 2014 to 27 February 2015.

This course improves the officers’ command and staff competencies by giving them the requisite attitude, knowledge, and skills at the tactical level. It also prepares them for higher military courses such as Senior Command and Staff Course. This Programme is conceived as a bridge leading to more advanced military courses and senior responsibilities. In his remarks, the Commandant congratulated the students for having been selected for this course and urged them to use the opportunity to aim high to uphold personal pride and institutional trust in them. He thus emphasized:

“As you may recall, the effectiveness of Rwanda Defence Force and indeed its sheer existence and ultimate survival, primarily depends on the quality and organization of its training. The effectiveness and efficiency are both important enablers to attain organizational goals and objectives”. He assured the students that what they will learn here will immensely enable them to contribute and earn the RDF and our country in general, international recognition whenever they are on external missions and/or senior courses at home, in the region, and abroad. He concluded his remarks by highlighting the importance of discipline and maximum cooperation amongst themselves and their Directing Staff to succeed on this course and in the future.
