On this day, the College organized refreshment for the entire College fraternity to commemorate the 61st anniversary of independence of Ghana, the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to attain independence from British colonial rule. This was followed by solidarity message from Col W DZANDU – HEDIDOR, the Head of Research and Development and leader of the Ghana Military Assistance Training Team (GMAT) on behalf of the team in the College. He also touched on the cordial collaboration between Ghana and Rwanda and the East African Community at large, especially in the area of military training. He noted that the relationship between Ghana and Rwanda dates as far back as the period of the genocide against the Tutsi, when the Ghanaian contingent remained to help stem the crisis after the unfortunate withdrawal of the UN forces. Col DZANDU-HEDIDOR thanked the College Leadership for joining Ghana on this memorable day, and the kind hospitality towards the GMAT.

On behalf of the College entire fraternity, Col JC NGENDAHIMANA the Chief Instructor (CI), congratulated the Ghana senior officers currently at the College: Col W DZANDU-HEDIDOR, Head of Research and Development, Lt Col H K NDITSI, CDR DKA EGHAN and WG CDR R DANSO, Directing Staff, and Maj DK KORSAH, student., “We are happy to join you on this memorable day when Ghana is celebrating 61 years of independence. An African nation’s independence reflects the independence of the whole of Africa”, the CI noted. “It is also time to reflect on our achievements so far despite the challenges posed by neocolonialism and external interferences. More importantly, it is a time to pledge more unity, cohesion and integration in Africa”. He concluded by wishing the Ghanaian officers in particular and other officers at the College in general, happy celebrations and many more anniversaries of the kind.
