A DELEGATION FROM ETHIOPIA NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE LED BY BRIG GEN TILAHUN ASHENAFI VISITED RWANDA DEFENCE FORCE COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE (RDFCSC)

Musanze, 15 July 2025

A delegation from the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF), led by Brig Gen Tilahun Ashenafi, the head of the ICT center, conducted a working visit to the Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College (RDFCSC) in Nyakinama as part of their regional study tour focused on E-learning transformation in military education.

The delegation was warmly received by Brig Gen Andrew Nyamvumba, Commandant of RDFCSC, who welcomed the guests on behalf of the College. In his remarks, Brig Gen Andrew highlighted “RDFCSC’s strong commitment to fostering regional cooperation and professional development. RDFCSC has a proud tradition of hosting officers from across Africa, including from Ethiopia. We believe that collaboration in areas like digital transformation will further strengthen the professional capacities of our armed forces. Our curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, leadership, and the integration of modern technology to address contemporary security challenges,” he said.

During the visit, the delegation participated in comprehensive presentations and discussions highlighting the College’s strides in digital modernization.

Brig Gen Tilahun Ashenafi “Our visit to Nyakinama has been both enlightening and inspiring. The RDFCSC stands as a strong example of how technology can be effectively integrated into military training and education,” he said.

The Ethiopian team also toured the college’s digital learning center, war-gaming and simulation labs, and research facilities, gaining first-hand insight into how the college is building a digitally capable and agile Defence force.

After the tour, the delegation joined Brig Gen A Nyamvumba for a luncheon, which was followed by a group photo session to commemorate the visit. As a mark of respect and appreciation, Brig Gen Tilahun Ashenafi signed the RDFCSC visitor’s book and exchanged a gift of appreciation with the Commandant.
