The students of Junior Command and Staff Course 25 conducted the Tactical Exercise without Troops (TEWTs)

The students of Junior Command and Staff Course 25 conducted various indoor and outdoor exercises from 4 August to 10 September 2025. These included the Defence Tactical Exercise without Troops (TEWTs) code-named KAZA IBIRINDIRO, which was conducted in the KIREREMA general area. The Ex focused on enabling the students to practice on planning process and conducting of defensive ops on an actual ground at Bde level of Comd, and the Assault River Crossing MAPEX/TEWTs nicknamed INYOGARUZI which was conducted in the River RUHONDO general area. The Ex was designed to practice the students of JCSC 25 in planning and conduct of Assault River Crossing Operation at the Bde level. The Students conducted various activities from 14 to 18 Aug 2025.
The last but not least was Ex Offensive Operations TEWTs, nicknamed HASHYA UMWANZI which was conducted in KIREREMA general area, from 22 Aug to 10 Sept 2025. The Ex was set at Bde level, where the students practiced as Bde Gp Comdrs & Staff. Therefore, the Ex focused on exercising the students in planning & conduct of Offensive Ops in a maneuver approach setting at Bde Gp level. The exercise was a Red Ink Correction (RIC) that contributes to the students’ development of individual understanding of ops through the study of a Bde Offensive battle context.

The purpose of the KAZA IBIRINDIRO exercise was to provide students with practical experience in planning and executing defensive operations at Bde level of command. the primary objective of the INYOGARUZI exercise was designed to practice students of JCSC 25 in the planning and conduct of Assault River Crossing Operation at the Bde level. On the other hand, HASHYA UMWANZI exercise was to conduct a Combat Estimate in Offensive Operations.
