THE STUDENTS OF JUNIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE 25, CONDUCTED A FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE (FTX) IN THE GENERAL AREA OF GABIRO FROM 8 TO 17 OCTOBER 2025
Ex SHAMBULIA ADUI was a final Field Tactical Exercise (FTX) conducted by students of JCSC 25. It was a one-sided exercise with a controlled enemy and designed to assess students in various aspects of planning and conduct of operations of war. The exercise was conducted in the general area of GABIRO (Eastern Province), from 8 to 17 October 2025.



The exercise was overseen by the Army Chief of Staff (ACOS), Maj Gen Vicent NYAKARUNDI, Commandant RDFCSC, Brig Gen Andrew NYAMVUMBA, and Brig Gen Jean Chrysostom NGENDAHIMANA, Deputy Commandant & CI.
In his remarks, the Army Chief of Staff stated that is was impressed with how students protrude themselves in giving orders. He was also impressed by the realism of the conduct and execution of the exercise. He concluded by saying that the most important prerequisite for efficient training is realism.

The exercise was set based on a conventional warfare scenario. It was a controlled exercise with a simulated Division HQ manned by Directing Staff (DS). Students played the roles of Bde Comd and Staff, support arms, Bn Comds as well as Coy Comds. The enemy was depicted at various strengths determined by the control HQ.



Debrief at the end of the Exercise at MUTUMBA Hill by the Course Coordinator, Col Alexis KAYISIRE thanked the students for their commitment and courage in completing the task.
