MALI CELEBRATES 64 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

Musanze, Thursday 24 September 2024

The College has a tradition of celebrating the independence days of our esteemed allied students and directing staff. The independence of Mali is typically celebrated on the 22nd of September, and this year, the date coincided with Sunday, making it impossible to hold the celebrations. Additionally, it could not take place on Monday due to the scheduled Study Visit to the 503 Brigade in Kinigi. Nevertheless, recognising the significance of this event and its importance for our unity and brotherhood, the independence of Mali was belatedly celebrated on Tuesday, 24 September 2024.

On this day, the College organised an event for the fraternity to celebrate the 64th Independence Day of the Republic of Mali. The celebrations were attended by the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, Brig Gen JC NGENDAHIMANA, as well as faculty members, students from the Senior Command and Staff Course 13 and College support staff.

In line with the College tradition, the national anthem of Mali was played

The occasion was graced by the College Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, Brig Gen JC NGENDAHIMANA.

The Malian student, Major Traore ABDALAH, addressed the gathering, expressing his honor in celebrating with the College community a significant milestone in African history: the independence of the Republic of Mali. He noted that in September 1960, Mali emerged from the shadows of colonial rule, having been a former French colony. This day marks not only the birth of their nation but also the moment when they courageously declared their freedom, embarking on a journey to establish a country rooted in the principles of liberty, equality, and justice for all.

The Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor expressed his deep honor in extending a warm welcome to everyone gathered to unite with Major Traore ABDALAH from Mali in commemorating the independence of his nation. In the spirit of unity, he conveyed his heartfelt wishes for a happy Independence Day to the people of Mali and especially to Major Traore ABDALAH. He congratulated their Malian brother on this significant day and emphasized that their common goal should be to uphold the values of equality, justice, brotherhood, and cooperation among nations as they move forward.
