BENIN CELEBRATES 64 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

On August 1st, 2024,

The College has a tradition of celebrating the Independence Days of our esteemed Allied Students and Directing Staff. This practice symbolizes our unity and brotherhood, while also honoring our identities and values.  The Independence Day of the Republic of Benin on 1st August 2024, was yet another momentous occasion to reflect on the significance of freedom and independence as not merely a celebration, but a commemoration of the struggles, sacrifices, and triumphs of a nation that carved her identity through resilience and determination.

This academic year, 1st August 2024 commemorated Benin’s independence from France, achieved in 1960. This day holds immense significance for the people of Benin as it represents their freedom, sovereignty, and national identity. The RDFCSC fraternity celebrated the Benin Independence Day with Maj Abdel Rachide ASSOUMA, a student from Benin.

The occasion was graced by the The occasion was graced by the College Commandant Brig Gen A NYAMVUMBA. He said “As we honor Benin’s independence, we must also reflect on the lessons it imparts for our collective future. The struggle for independence teaches us the value of unity, resilience, and the importance of civic engagement. It also illustrates that the transition from colonial rule to a stable country was not only possible but also led to a flourishing society that determines its values and destiny. I congratulate Benin on 64 years of freedom.”

Benin and Rwanda continue to enjoy good bilateral relations, and the College is happy to have Maj Rachide ASSOUMA as a student to benefit from the training packages of the Senior Command and Staff Course 13.
