Musanze, 18 March 2017

On 17 March 2017, 36 officers graduated from Junior Command and Staff Course 09 at RDF Command and Staff College, in Musanze District. The course comprised 34 RDF officers in the ranks of majors and captains (including 3 female officers) and 2 Rwanda National Police officers.

The ceremony was attended by RDF and RNP Senior Officers, spouses and family relatives of the graduates, local government authorities, as well as representatives from higher learning institutions residing in Musanze District.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by the Commandant of RDF Command and Staff College, Maj Gen J Bosco Kazura, on behalf of the RDF Chief of Defence Staff.

In his remarks, the Commandant congratulated the graduates for having demonstrated high standards of discipline and personal conduct during the 4 months course. He stressed he was confident the course had enabled the officers to become better commanders and staff officers at tactical and operational levels respectively. “The college has given you ample skills that will help you to understand and implement your senior commanders ’vision with precision and resolve and be able to efficiently lead your subordinates. This clearly means that you are ready to be deployed and assume some of the most key responsibilities whether in military operations or at any staff officer positions of your level”, the Commandant said.

The Commandant also expressed gratitude to the spouses and families of the graduates for their relentless support in assisting the officers to successfully complete the course.

Maj Callixte MIGABO and Capt Alexis KAREMERA emerged as the overall best student and the second overall best, respectively. The best Commandant’s Paper award went to Capt Jacqueline UWAMAHORO.

JCSC improves officers’ command and staff competencies by giving them the required attitude, knowledge and skills at the tactical level. It also prepares them for higher military courses such as the Senior Command and Staff Course. JCSC 09 ran for 17 weeks from 15 November 2016 to 17 March 2017.
