Senior Command and Staff Course 13 Visit to the 503 Brigade Tactical Headquarters in Kinigi

On Monday, 23 Septembre 2024, from 0800 to 1300 hours, students of Senior Command and Staff Course 13, accompanied by the Commandant, Brig Gen Andrew NYAMVUMBA, and faculty members of the Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College (RDFCSC), visited the 503 Brigade Tactical Headquarters in Kinigi, Musanze.

The RDFCSC visiting delegation was welcomed by Col JDC BAZIRUWIHA, the 503 Brigade Commander, who, along with his staff officers, briefed the delegation on the tactical deployment of the brigade and the layout of the Brigade Tactical Headquarters. During the visit, various Brigade Combat Support and Combat Service Support (CSS) elements demonstrated and presented their functions, roles, and responsibilities in enabling the brigade to fulfill its mission. Emphasis was placed on the support provided by CSS units within the Brigade Admin Area (BAA).

At the end of the visit, students gained a clear understanding of the tactical considerations in siting and organising a Brigade Tactical Headquarters in the field and its supporting Brigade Admin Area. Furthermore, they understood the functions, roles, and responsibilities of various Brigade Headquarters cells and Combat Service Support (CSS) elements within a Brigade Admin Area in support of a brigade.

The students and faculty appreciated the effort, commitment and cooperation demonstrated by the 503 Brigade Commander and his staff in achieving the visit’s objectives.

The various briefings and demonstrations helped students fully understand the complexities of moving and deploying a formation headquarters in the field and the functions of its component cells.

Briefing and Debriefing by the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, Brig Gen JC NGENDAHIMANA.
